Welcome to the sixth edition of Top of The Stack 🥞!
Every Sunday I share five indie newsletters that you probably haven’t heard of. My goal is threefold:
make it easy for you to discover awesome indie newsletters.
help authors grow their audiences.
share pancake pics.
If you discover a newsletter here, I hope you’ll subscribe and follow the author on Twitter! If you have a newsletter (or a pancake pic) to share, @me on Twitter! @samdebrule
1. The Mix with Robert Simonson
Cocktails & Culture • 1 email/week • Hundreds of subscribers
When I say "The Mix" is about "cocktails and culture," I'm merely saying it is a reflection of my long career as a journalist and author, at both The New York Times and the many other publications. While the bulk of my words over the past 15 years or so have been devoted to cocktails, spirits, bars and bartenders--including the books The Old-Fashioned, A Proper Drink, 3-Ingredient Cocktails, The Martini Cocktail and Mezcal and Tequila Cocktails— I've also put in many enjoyable hours pursuing my other passions, including food, restaurants (mainly old ones), regional food traditions, hot dogs, travel, literature and book stores, New York history, Wisconsin stuff, cooking, and all sorts of whatnot. The Mix will gather all of that and more in one space.Â

4. The Ad Spot
Business • 1 email/week • Thousands of subscribers
It used to be easy to see the best campaigns on Adweek and AdAge, but now they’re lost in a sea of industry news and hiring announcements, hidden behind sponsored articles, or buried deep in a section that’s too hard to navigate to daily. So we came up with something simpler, better, easier.
It’s called The Ad Spot. It’s a newsletter. It goes out once a week. It delivers you the week’s top trending ads. We scour (and I mean SCOUR) the web every day to make sure our newsletter has the hottest ads from around the world delivered right to your inbox.
